Gujaratis stuck in UAE will be brought to Surat in a special flight on August 4.

Delhi : Residents from Surat, South Gujarat and other parts of the state stuck in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the ban on international flights to and from India following the increase in the coronavirus cases and the possible third wave, would be brought back to Surat in a special flight from Sharjah on August 4.

Sources said the special flight from Sharjah airport in UAE has been arranged for the people stuck in the Emirates due to the coronavirus pandemic. The direct flight will land in Surat on August 4 and that the bookings for the same is being started.

Last week, about 97 people were brought in a special flight from Sharjah to Surat. This will be the second consecutive special flight to facilitate the travel needs of the people stuck in UAE.

Sanjay Jain, member of We Work for a Working Airport at Surat (WWWAS) told HE Reporter, “People from Surat, South Gujarat and other parts of the state, who are stuck in Emirates, have a chance to come back in the special flight to be operated on August 4. Due to the rising coronavirus cases in India, the UAE has imposed ban on the commercial flights from India”

Jain added, “There is a good response from the passengers from UAE. The special flight will return empty without any passengers following the ban by the UAE government”.
